Nepra Approves Rs25.30 Tariff Hike for Consumption Package

News Desk

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved a Rs25.30 per unit increase in the marginal rate under the Incremental Consumption Package, specifically targeting industrial and agricultural consumers.

This adjustment, announced on Friday, is set to take effect in November 2026.

A spokesperson for the power division clarified that this increase does not constitute a rise in the overall industrial power tariff.

The revision of the incremental package is attributed to rising marginal generation costs, influenced by the ongoing US-Iran conflict.

The spokesperson emphasized that this temporary increase is designed to ensure that the cost of relief under the package is not transferred to non-beneficiary consumers, thereby protecting the broader consumer base from potential financial strain.

Looking ahead, the power division is expected to monitor the situation closely, with further assessments planned as the geopolitical landscape evolves. Stakeholders are urged to stay informed about any additional changes that may arise in response to fluctuating energy costs.
