2,084 Terrorists Killed in 40,348 Operations This Year: DG ISPR

Islamabad: Pakistan’s security forces have intensified counterterrorism operations across the country, with the military reporting thousands of intelligence-based missions and significant losses among militant groups during the ongoing campaign against terrorism.

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said that security forces conducted 40,348 intelligence-based operations across Pakistan during the current year, resulting in the killing of 2,084 terrorists.

Speaking at a press briefing on the country’s security situation, the DG ISPR said that security forces carried out an average of 194 intelligence-based operations every day, while approximately 10 terrorists were killed daily during these operations.

He said Pakistan witnessed 3,145 terrorism-related incidents during the year, in which 819 people lost their lives, including military personnel, law enforcement officials, and civilians.

According to Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, the casualties included 303 military personnel, 194 law enforcement officials, and 322 civilians, highlighting the continued security challenges faced by the country.

The DG ISPR also mentioned that 28 bomb attacks were reported during the year, adding that security forces have continued efforts to improve operational effectiveness against militant networks.

Reflecting on the counterterrorism strategy, he said that security forces had strengthened their response in recent years, particularly after 2023, when terrorist attacks resulted in a higher number of casualties compared to militants killed.

On the possibility of dialogue with terrorist groups, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said there was no room for negotiations with those challenging the state’s authority. He stated that militants would have to surrender before the state and face legal proceedings.

He reaffirmed that security forces would continue operations until terrorism is eliminated and said maintaining peace and stability remains a top priority.

The briefing comes amid ongoing security concerns in Pakistan, where authorities continue to focus on disrupting militant networks through intelligence gathering, targeted operations, and coordinated security measures.
