Islamabad: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday said Pakistan’s armed forces are fully aware of the activities of hostile intelligence agencies and vowed that cross-border terrorism would be crushed with the full force of the state.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made the remarks while addressing graduate officers of the National Security and War Course during a visit to the National Defence University (NDU).
Emphasising the importance of strategic thinking in a rapidly evolving security environment, Field Marshal Munir said strategic insight and institutional professionalism are essential to effectively respond to increasingly complex strategic challenges.
He asserted that all attempts by proxy elements operating under the patronage of hostile intelligence agencies would fail, adding that the armed forces, backed by the nation, would dismantle their networks and eliminate their hideouts.
“The armed forces, with the full support of the nation, will completely eliminate the facilitators of terrorists and will never allow proxy elements to undermine Pakistan’s peace and prosperity,” he said.
Referring to the country’s broader security outlook, the army chief said wars are not won through rhetoric or political slogans but through faith, unity and discipline.
Expressing confidence in the operational readiness, professionalism and high morale of Pakistan’s armed forces, he urged the graduating officers to uphold the values of integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to the homeland throughout their careers.
According to the ISPR, officers from the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force participated in the National Security and War Course. During his address, Field Marshal Munir also highlighted the changing nature of modern warfare and stressed the need for continuous adaptation to emerging security challenges.
The remarks came days after the military said security forces had killed 54 terrorists during counter-terrorism operations in Balochistan, underscoring ongoing efforts to combat militant violence in the province.
Naqvi Hails Forces After 54 Militants Killed
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday praised Pakistan’s security forces for killing 54 militants, whom he described as members of “Fitna al-Hindustan,” during counterterrorism operations carried out in Balochistan over the past three days.
In a statement, Naqvi commended the professionalism, courage and operational effectiveness of the security forces, saying their swift action had foiled the “nefarious designs” of India-backed militants.
He also paid tribute to the 42 security personnel and civilians who lost their lives during the operations, describing them as martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight against terrorism.
“The brave sons of the nation acted decisively to thwart the malicious intentions of India-backed terrorists,” the minister said.
Naqvi said the sacrifices of the martyrs embodied the nation’s unwavering determination to eliminate terrorism and safeguard Pakistan’s peace and security. He added that the fallen personnel and civilians would always be remembered with honour and that the nation remained indebted to their courage and selflessness.
The interior minister concluded by saluting the martyrs and their families, saying their resilience and sacrifices continue to strengthen Pakistan’s resolve in its fight against militancy. Additional input from APP.
