Multan: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration authorities at Multan International Airport have foiled an attempt to smuggle a woman to Europe through illegal routes and uncovered links to an international human smuggling network operating through Türkiye.
According to FIA officials, passenger Saira Naheed was travelling to Türkiye on a visit visa aboard flight FZ340 when immigration officers noticed suspicious details during the clearance process.
She was referred for further questioning, where initial investigation revealed that her actual plan was to enter Italy illegally from Türkiye through unauthorized routes.
During the inquiry, it was revealed that the passenger had been in contact with an agent based in Faisalabad, who allegedly promised to arrange her illegal entry into Italy in exchange for a large sum of money.
The agent had reportedly received Rs1 million as advance payment, while the remaining amount was to be paid after her arrival in Italy.
Officials said members of the human smuggling network were allegedly responsible for receiving the passenger in Türkiye and facilitating her illegal border crossing into Italy.
The passenger was offloaded and handed over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC), Multan, for further legal proceedings and investigation.
The FIA has launched further investigations to identify and arrest the suspected agent and other members of the international human smuggling network involved in the case.
