Federal Officer Found Dead in Sadiqabad Area

Rawalpindi: A federal police official allegedly committed suicide in the Sadiqabad police station area of Rawalpindi, while separate police operations in the city led to multiple arrests in drug trafficking and murder cases, officials and sources said on Thursday.

According to sources, the deceased officer, identified as Amjad Siddique, had been suspended for the past eight months on allegations of facilitating the escape of an accused person.

Police have initiated further investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.

In a separate development, Rawalpindi Police reported significant progress in anti-narcotics operations. Three suspected drug suppliers were arrested, with authorities recovering more than 6 kilograms of hashish in total.

Dhamyal Police detained two individuals and recovered 3.2 kilograms of hashish, while Waris Khan Police arrested another suspect and seized approximately 2.884 kilograms of the contraband. Officials said operations against drug trafficking networks are ongoing as part of efforts to curb the menace in the region.

Meanwhile, Ratta Amral Police apprehended two wanted suspects in a murder case. According to police, the accused had allegedly killed their stepbrother over a domestic dispute and had been in hiding since the incident. They were arrested using a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence.

Senior police officials, including SP Rawal Saad Arshad, stated that the accused will be challaned in court with strong evidence. Authorities reiterated that strict action is being taken across the district to combat drug trafficking and serious crimes, as part of ongoing law enforcement efforts.
