Eid Sermons Echo Peace Across Holy Mosques

Riyadh: Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were held with great religious fervour at Islam’s holiest sites, where at Masjid al-Haram, the sermon was delivered and prayers were led by Sheikh Abdul Rahman al-Sudais, while at Masjid al-Nabawi, the congregational prayers were led by Sheikh Abdullah.

Meanwhile, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, has extended warm Eid al-Fitr greetings to Muslims around the world, reaffirming his commitment to promoting global peace and stability.

In his message, King Salman expressed determination to continue efforts aimed at fostering peace and prayed for security, stability and prosperity for the Muslim Ummah. 

He also noted with satisfaction that millions of worshippers performed Umrah during the holy month of Ramadan.

Eid al-Fitr is being celebrated today (Friday) in Saudi Arabia and across Gulf states, including United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, as well as in Turkey, Yemen and Russia.

Massive and spiritually significant Eid congregations were held at Islam’s holiest sites, including Masjid al-Haram, Masjid al-Nabawi and Masjid al-Aqsa, where millions of worshippers offered prayers.

In the UAE, large congregations were also witnessed, including in Dubai’s Al-Qassas area where around 15,000 worshippers, including women and children, offered Eid prayers. Similar gatherings took place in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other emirates, with traditional cannon fire marking the occasion in Dubai.

Eid is also being celebrated today in Australia, where Prime Minister Anthony Albanese attended festivities at a mosque in Sydney. Meanwhile, Muslim communities in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada observed Eid on different days.

Eid celebrations are also underway in France, while Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Indonesia are set to celebrate Eid tomorrow. In Oman, Brunei and parts of Indonesia, Eid will be observed on Monday.

The occasion is being marked worldwide with religious devotion, unity and prayers for peace and harmony.
