Islamabad: The government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel by nearly Rs15 per litre, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division.

Under the revised rates, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs14.92 per litre, taking the new price to Rs414.78 per litre from the previous Rs399.86.

Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has been raised by Rs15 per litre, after which diesel will now be available at Rs414.58 per litre compared to the earlier rate of Rs399.58 per litre.

The notification stated that the new fuel prices came into effect immediately from May 9.

Officials said the revised petroleum prices were issued by the Petroleum Division under the Ministry of Energy as part of the government’s regular fuel price adjustment mechanism.

The latest increase is expected to put additional pressure on transportation costs and inflation, as petrol and diesel prices directly impact the cost of goods and public transport across the country.
