Islamabad: A special report published by Al Jazeera has claimed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decade-long campaign to diplomatically isolate Pakistan has failed, with Pakistan strengthening ties with major world powers and emerging as an influential regional player.

According to the report, Modi formally announced a policy to isolate Pakistan internationally in 2016, but current geopolitical realities reflect a different outcome.

The report stated that Pakistan successfully resisted diplomatic pressure through what it described as an effective strategy and currently maintains strong relations with key global capitals including Washington, Beijing, Tehran, and Riyadh.

It added that India’s diplomatic approach had instead produced setbacks for New Delhi, while Pakistan had consolidated its position in regional and international affairs.

Referring to tensions between Pakistan and India in 2025, the report said Pakistan effectively fought a “war of narratives” after the Pahalgam incident, claiming that the international community did not fully accept India’s allegations in the absence of concrete evidence.

The report also highlighted differences between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump over efforts to de-escalate tensions between Pakistan and India.

According to the report, President Trump publicly took credit multiple times for helping secure the ceasefire between the two countries, while New Delhi repeatedly rejected those claims, exposing visible strains in US-India relations.

The report further said India strongly criticized Syed Asim Munir following the ceasefire developments, whereas President Trump described him as an “extraordinary personality” and acknowledged his capabilities.

Discussing broader regional developments, the report described Pakistan’s strategic partnership with China as a major geopolitical reality that continues to strengthen Islamabad’s regional standing.

It also termed improving relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh as a significant setback for India’s regional diplomacy.

According to the report, Pakistan is increasingly emerging as a security and defense partner for Gulf countries, particularly due to growing defense cooperation with Saudi Arabia.

The report noted that these developments have increased international interest in Pakistan’s defense capabilities and air power.

Reviewing India’s domestic situation, the report claimed that anti-Muslim policies pursued by the Modi government had negatively affected India’s global image.

It referred to international concerns regarding anti-Muslim rhetoric, demolition of mosques, and discriminatory measures against minorities in India.

In contrast, the report stated that Pakistan has attracted growing international attention through active diplomacy, foreign investment opportunities, and its mineral resources.

Foreign affairs experts quoted in the report said Pakistan is among the few countries maintaining balanced and effective relations simultaneously with rival global powers including the United States, China, Iran, and Saudi Arabia, which they described as a sign of diplomatic success.
