US and Iranian Presidents Sign Historic Peace Deal Online

Islamabad: The United States and Iran have signed what has been described as a historic peace agreement, with US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian electronically signing the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.”
The development was announced by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In a special statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he had played the role of mediator between the two countries and had approved the agreement in that capacity.
According to the prime minister, the agreement comes into effect immediately. Under its terms, Iran will reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping, while the United States will permanently end its naval blockade of Iranian ports.
Shehbaz Sharif said the agreement would serve as a strong foundation for peace and stability across the region.
Expressing his satisfaction over the development, the prime minister congratulated US President Donald Trump, Iran’s Supreme Leader, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. He also paid tribute to all those involved in the negotiations.
The prime minister said US Vice President JD Vance, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner played significant roles in helping secure the agreement. He also acknowledged the contributions of Iranian officials Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Abbas Araghchi and Eskandar Momeni.

Shehbaz Sharif further thanked the government of Qatar for its support in bringing the agreement to its final stage. He also expressed appreciation for the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt for their efforts in promoting peace.
The prime minister specifically highlighted the role of Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, describing his contribution to resolving the issue as highly significant.
According to the announcement, President Trump signed the document during a dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron while on a visit to France.
Following the signing, Trump told journalists that he had signed the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.
The US president praised the efforts of Pakistan and Qatar, saying both countries had played an important role in making the negotiations successful. He added that Pakistan had made a major contribution to achieving the agreement.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei also confirmed the signing of the agreement.
However, commenting on future diplomatic engagements, Baqaei said that discussions regarding the next round of talks in Switzerland could not be confirmed at this stage.
He said that a meeting scheduled for Friday had been finalized only a few hours earlier, but after the decision was made for the presidents of both countries to personally sign the agreement, it was decided to postpone the meeting.
Baqaei added that a final decision on whether the meeting would be held on Friday would be taken in the coming hours. He noted that the negotiating teams from both countries would remain in Geneva according to their previously scheduled plans.
