SC Issues Contempt Notice to Adiala Jail Superintendent
News Desk
Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) has sought detailed records concerning former prime minister Imran Khan’s health, meetings and pending cases, while issuing a contempt notice to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail.
The court directed authorities to submit Imran Khan’s complete medical record as part of the proceedings. It also ordered the relevant officials to provide comprehensive details of all meetings held with the PTI founder.
In addition, the court sought a complete record of the cases currently pending against Imran Khan, expanding the scope of information being examined by the bench.
The hearing was adjourned until noon, with proceedings scheduled to resume afterwards.
The court’s directives come amid continued legal proceedings involving Imran Khan and renewed scrutiny of the arrangements concerning his health and access to meetings while he remains incarcerated at Adiala Jail.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had announced a phased protest strategy over restrictions on meetings with party founder Imran Khan, warning that demonstrations could expand across major intersections if his family is not allowed to meet him.
According to the party’s plan, PTI parliamentarians have been directed to stage a sit-in outside the Supreme Court. If Imran Khan’s family is not permitted to meet him on Wednesday, the party says its lawmakers will travel to Adiala Jail on Thursday.
PTI has further warned that if access to Imran Khan remains blocked, demonstrations will be held at major intersections in different areas.
The party says the former prime minister has been largely isolated from his family and party colleagues for around eight months, raising concerns among his supporters about his wellbeing and access to legal and personal support.
