Railways’ Safari Tourist Train – What You Need to Know!

Islamabad: Pakistan Railways is preparing to relaunch the Safari Tourist Train to showcase the cultural and natural beauty of the Potohar Region.

The journey will commence from the historic Golra Station in Islamabad and conclude at Attock Khurd.

This initiative aims to promote tourism, educate travelers about the region’s rich railway heritage, and contribute to the local economy.

The Safari Train route will take passengers through notable landmarks such as Hasan Abdal, Attock, and Attock Khurd Railway stations.

Attock Khurd is particularly significant for housing the oldest railway museum in the area, further enhancing the historical experience for tourists.

Travelers will enjoy the picturesque landscape of Potohar, featuring attractions like the Margalla Hills, Sangjani Tunnel, and various bridges including Chablal Bridge, Haro Bridge, Ghazi Borotha, and Attock Khurd Bridges.

Additionally, passengers will cross the historic iron girder bridge over the Indus River, connecting Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

Golra Station, with its British-era history, hosts the Islamabad Railway Museum, exhibiting a collection of railway artifacts such as ancient steam engines and heritage railway kitchens.

Upon reaching Attock Khurd Station, passengers will have the opportunity to explore the scenic beauty and entertainment spots along the Indus River.

The Safari Train itself has undergone a comprehensive renovation, featuring redesigned interiors, delightful onboard cuisine, and amenities such as high tea and newly constructed washrooms.

The luxurious seating arrangements ensure a comfortable and enjoyable journey for passengers.

The sources indicated that preparations for the Safari Train are nearing completion and are expected to conclude by next week.

The official date of the journey will be announced in due course.

Safari Train departures are scheduled for every Sunday at 9 a.m., with return trips from Attock at 6:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary based on the type of accommodation, with special discounts offered to students from educational institutions.
