Pakistan, China, Russia, Iran FMs to Meet at SCO Forum

Islamabad: Foreign ministers of Pakistan, China, Russia and Iran are set to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting scheduled to be held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, next week.

According to sources, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will depart for Kyrgyzstan to represent Pakistan at the high-level meeting, which is scheduled for July 24.

  • SCO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Bishkek will finalise the agenda and key issues for the upcoming summit, with Pakistan, China, Russia, Iran and India expected to participate.
  • Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is likely to represent Pakistan at the SCO summit, where leaders including Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping are expected to attend.

Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar is also expected to attend the SCO foreign ministers’ meeting.

Sources said the meeting will focus on finalising the agenda and key issues for the upcoming SCO summit, which is scheduled to take place in Bishkek at the end of next month.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to represent Pakistan at the summit, while Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are also likely to participate.

The SCO summit is expected to conclude with the issuance of a joint declaration on September 1, outlining the member states’ shared positions on regional cooperation and key international issues.
