New Monsoon Spell Brings Rain Chances From July 31

Karachi: A new monsoon spell is set to enter Pakistan, bringing the possibility of rainfall in Karachi and several other parts of the country, while the port city is expected to remain hot and humid over the next 24 hours.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi’s weather will remain partly cloudy with chances of drizzle at isolated locations. The maximum temperature is likely to remain between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature recorded during the last 24 hours was 28.5 degrees.
The Met Office said sea breezes are continuing in Karachi at a speed of around 18 kilometres per hour, with humidity levels recorded at 78 percent.
Meanwhile, meteorologists have forecast another monsoon system affecting the country from July 29 to August 5, with rainfall expected in different regions including Sindh, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Karachi is likely to receive rain between July 31 and August 2, with moderate showers expected in some areas and heavier rainfall possible at isolated places.
The weather department has warned that the new monsoon spell may increase water levels in rivers and streams, while some areas could face risks of flash floods and urban flooding.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has directed district administrations to remain alert and take precautionary measures as monsoon winds are expected to impact upper and central parts of the country.
