CCD Official Held After Allegedly Assaulting Woman

Rawalpindi: A Crime Control Department (CCD) official has been arrested after allegedly assaulting and threatening a woman in the Jatli area following her refusal to accept a marriage proposal for her daughter, police said.

The accused, identified as Bilal, son of Safdar, allegedly stopped the woman’s rickshaw near Bin Kamal Shah on August 13 while she was travelling home from Daulatala with her mother and daughter.

According to the woman’s complaint, the official allegedly slapped her in front of her family members, verbally abused her and threatened her and her daughter with serious consequences while displaying a pistol.

She alleged that the accused had previously sought her daughter’s hand in marriage, but she had rejected the proposal, which led to the confrontation.

The woman said the rickshaw driver intervened and helped protect her during the incident.

Following the complaint, Jatli police registered a case against Bilal and arrested him. An investigation into the allegations is underway.

Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer CCD Rawalpindi Hassan Jahangir Wattoo suspended the accused official following the incident.
