Murree Draws Record Crowds Despite Bad Weather

Murree: Despite a massive influx of tourists and challenging weather conditions, traffic flow in Murree remained stable as more than 24,000 vehicles entered the hill station within 24 hours, according to local police authorities.

District Police Officer (DPO) Murree Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanvir said effective traffic management measures and continuous monitoring helped prevent major congestion despite heavy rainfall, intermittent fog and ongoing road development work.

Traffic data showed that between July 18 and July 19, a total of 24,002 vehicles entered Murree district, while 17,655 vehicles exited, leaving around 6,347 vehicles within the district limits.

In the main city areas, 20,839 vehicles arrived and 16,244 departed, with nearly 4,595 vehicles currently present inside Murree.

The DPO said construction activities at Jhika Gali and traffic diversions from GT Road towards Murree Expressway have slowed movement in some areas, but no prolonged blockages were reported.

Murree Police have increased deployment at major intersections and sensitive points, while senior officers are monitoring traffic through Safe City cameras and field teams.

Authorities are also using public announcements and real-time updates to guide motorists, urging visitors to drive cautiously due to wet roads and reduced visibility caused by adverse weather.
