ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ali Waseem has directed the registration of cases against individuals allegedly involved in filing false rape complaints and giving statements in favour of accused persons in exchange for money.
Under the directives, legal proceedings are to be initiated against complainants and witnesses allegedly involved in seven identified cases under the Anti-Rape Act.
DIG Ali Waseem said strict action would be taken against those who exploit the legal system for personal benefit by making fabricated allegations of rape or helping accused individuals obtain the dismissal of cases through paid statements.
He emphasised that the measures are intended to prevent the misuse of the law and strengthen the administration of justice.
The DIG added that protecting the rights of women and citizens, while ensuring justice for genuine victims, remains a key priority of the Islamabad Police.
He stressed that the law must not be exploited for personal or financial gain and that action against alleged misuse should be taken in accordance with legal requirements.
