Rawalpindi on High Alert Over Political Tensions
News Desk
RAWALPINDI: Security authorities in Rawalpindi have placed law enforcement agencies on high alert and ordered the immediate arrest of anyone violating Section 144, following heightened political tensions across the region.
Under the imposed restrictions, all public gatherings, political rallies, demonstrations, and assemblies of more than five people have been strictly banned across the city.
According to security sources, police personnel and local administration officials have been directed to maintain zero tolerance against any public disturbance and swiftly detain individuals attempting to breach public order.
The proactive security measures come amid an unpredictable political climate, sparking concerns among local residents regarding potential road blockades, traffic diversions, and heavy law enforcement deployment.
While district officials maintain that the restrictions are essential to protect public life and property, legal experts and civil society groups frequently raise concerns over the widespread deployment of Section 144 as a tool to curb political activity.
In response to the directives, police patrols have been intensified along key thoroughfares, critical infrastructure sites, and major entry points connecting Rawalpindi with the federal capital, Islamabad.
District authorities stated that the high-alert security posture will remain operational until a comprehensive review of the security landscape is conducted.
