Where Will Rain and Hailstorms Hit on October 6-7?

ISLAMABAD: Rain lashed Islamabad, Rawalpindi and several other parts of the country on Tuesday morning, turning the weather cooler as the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast strong winds, thunderstorms and hailstorms in several regions on October 6 and 7.

According to the Met Department, a new westerly weather system is entering the country’s upper regions, bringing the possibility of rain, gusty winds, thunderstorms and hailstorms.

The department has issued an advisory warning that strong windstorms, gusty winds, thunderstorms and hailstorms could disrupt routine activities and cause damage to vulnerable structures.

Weak walls and buildings, mud houses, electricity poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels could be particularly vulnerable to the expected weather conditions.

All relevant departments and emergency services have been directed to remain on high alert and take precautionary measures to deal with any untoward situation.

Rain forecast across Punjab

Rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad.

Some areas may also experience hailstorms during the period.

Weather conditions in KP 

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain with thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms is expected in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Kurram, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan.

Rain expected in Kashmir, GB

Rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, with isolated hailstorms in some areas, is also expected in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Haveli, Bagh, Sudhnoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms, with strong winds and isolated hailstorms in some locations.

Hot, dry Sindh, Balochistan

Most parts of Balochistan are expected to remain hot and dry. However, rain accompanied by strong winds is forecast in Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel.

Similarly, most areas of Sindh are likely to experience hot and dry weather over the next few days.

The Met Department has advised the public and relevant authorities to remain cautious, particularly in areas vulnerable to strong winds, thunderstorms and hailstorms.
