Islamabad: The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a stark warning that without urgent measures, over half of the world’s countries could experience a measles outbreak by the year’s end.

Natasha Crowcroft, a senior technical advisor at WHO, expressed grave concerns during a press briefing in Geneva, citing insufficient vaccination stock in many nations.

Crowcroft emphasized the pressing need to administer vaccines promptly to prevent measles from spreading in vulnerable areas. Citing data from WHO and analyzed by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Natasha revealed that a significant number of countries are at risk of facing a measles epidemic by the conclusion of 2024.
