Islamabad: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have solved three separate murder cases involving women within 24 to 48 hours, leading Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to announce a cash reward of Rs2.5 million and appreciation certificates for the investigating teams.

According to police officials, IGP Rizvi reviewed the investigations during a briefing and commended the officers for their swift response and effective use of modern investigative techniques.

The most high-profile case involved the killing of two women within the jurisdiction of Aabpara Police Station. Police said the murders stemmed from a domestic dispute. To trace the suspect, Islamabad Police formed seven special CIA teams and carried out raids at multiple locations across Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The prime suspect, Bilal Hussain, was arrested in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within 48 hours of the crime. Investigators analyzed 117 call detail records (CDRs) and reviewed footage from more than 41 Safe City surveillance cameras to track down the accused.

IGP Rizvi acknowledged the cooperation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, saying their support played a key role in the successful arrest.

In two other cases, women were murdered in the jurisdictions of Koral Police Station on June 15 and Sumbal Police Station on June 18, also due to domestic disputes. Police arrested the suspects in both cases within 24 hours by utilizing cellular technology, digital surveillance and human intelligence.

The IGP said Islamabad Police had continued its tradition of solving major cases within a short period through professional investigations, inter-agency coordination and the use of advanced technology.

In recognition of the investigators’ performance and dedication, Rizvi announced a cash reward of Rs2.5 million along with commendation certificates for the officers involved in solving the cases.
