Lahore/Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast continued hot and dry weather across Punjab and Sindh over the next 24 hours, with rising temperatures and air quality concerns adding to public health risks.
In Lahore, the temperature was recorded at 33°C on Sunday, with humidity at 21 percent. Weather conditions are expected to remain hot and dry in the coming days, although experts indicate a slight 10 percent chance of rain.
Air quality remains a growing concern in the provincial capital. The city recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 82, placing it in the “moderate” category.

However, levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) were measured at 3.2 times higher than the annual guideline set by the World Health Organization, posing potential health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups.
Meanwhile, in Karachi and other parts of Sindh, similar weather patterns are expected to prevail. The Met Office has predicted hot and dry conditions across most districts, with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of windstorms or dust-raising winds during the afternoon.
Karachi recorded an average AQI of 82, also falling within the moderate range. Despite this classification, experts warn that persistent particulate pollution could have long-term health implications if not addressed.
Environmental specialists stress the importance of continued monitoring and mitigation efforts, as elevated pollution levels combined with sustained heat could exacerbate respiratory and cardiovascular issues among residents.
