Islamabad: A senior meteorologist has warned of intensifying heat conditions across southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, urging the public to take precautionary measures as temperatures are expected to rise further in the coming days.

Speaking to a local media outlet, Muhammad Aslam said that temperatures could increase by an additional 3 to 4 degrees Celsius after May 6, worsening already hot conditions in several regions.

He noted that hospitals are beginning to see a rise in patients suffering from heat-related illnesses, as prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures takes a toll on public health.

The meteorologist advised citizens to stay hydrated, wear light-colored clothing, and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, particularly between 10 am and 4 pm when heat intensity peaks. He also recommended covering the head with caps or cloth to reduce direct exposure to sunlight.

People were encouraged to increase their intake of water and natural fluids such as sugarcane juice to prevent dehydration during the heatwave.

Highlighting the broader impact, he urged farmers to take special care of livestock by ensuring adequate shade, water, and protection from heat stress. Motorists were also advised to exercise caution, carry sufficient water, avoid travel during peak hours, and ensure their vehicles are in proper condition.

He emphasized the importance of following official advisories and instructions issued by local authorities, urging the public to stay updated with weather forecasts to minimize risks during the ongoing heat spell.
