ISLAMABAD: The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has issued a comprehensive advisory and stern warning to citizens aspiring to work abroad, urging them to exercise extreme caution against fraudulent travel agents and fake visa offers. The federal institution stepped forward following a noticeable surge in complaints regarding criminal rings exploiting job seekers with promises of lucrative foreign employment.
According to the directive, unauthorized individuals and illegal agencies are actively duping innocent citizens by publishing deceptive advertisements on social media and operating unregistered recruitment offices.
The Bureau emphasized that all legal recruitment processes must strictly route through authorized overseas employment promoters officially registered and verified by the Government of Pakistan.
This systemic fraud not only inflicts severe financial devastation on vulnerable families who often sell assets or take high-interest loans to pay for these fake visas, but it also tarnishes Pakistan’s international reputation. Unscrupulous elements frequently strand unsuspecting workers in foreign lands without valid legal status or promised employment, creating acute humanitarian and diplomatic challenges.
Authorities have announced an intensified crackdown against illegal agents operating across the country in coordination with federal and provincial law enforcement agencies.
Citizens have been strongly advised to verify the credentials of any recruitment agency through the official website of the Bureau of Emigration before making any financial transactions.
