22 ‘Militants’ Killed in Joint IBO in Khyber: ISPR

Rawalpindi: Security Forces, in coordination with Law Enforcement Agencies, killed 22 alleged militants during a joint intelligence-based operation in Khyber District, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.

The operation targeted militants described as belonging to “Fitna-al-Khwarij,” allegedly supported by India. The ISPR stated that the forces engaged the militants in an intense exchange of fire, resulting in the elimination of all 22 individuals.

During the operation, the militants reportedly resorted to indiscriminate firing in an attempt to avoid capture, which tragically led to the martyrdom of a 10-year-old child.

Security personnel also recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the deceased militants, who were said to have been involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.

A follow-up sanitization operation is currently underway to clear the area of any remaining threats. The ISPR reiterated that the country’s counterterrorism campaign, conducted under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” initiative approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue with full momentum.
