Oman: Omanis across the Sultanate celebrated Eid Al Adha with vibrant cultural events, traditional performances and community gatherings that reflected the country’s rich heritage and strong social bonds.

In the Wilayat of Liwa in North Al Batinah Governorate, residents organized a range of social and heritage activities aimed at preserving Omani traditions and strengthening community ties. Among the highlights were the popular “Eid Coffee” gatherings, held on the second and third days of Eid in an atmosphere marked by hospitality, friendship and social interaction.

The longstanding tradition brought together families, elders and youth in rotating neighborhood venues to ensure participation from across the community. Residents said the custom has been passed down through generations and remains a central part of Eid celebrations in Liwa.

Traditional Omani performances including Razha, Al Azi and other folk arts also featured prominently in the festivities, attracting wide participation from local residents and adding a festive cultural touch to the celebrations.

Rabie bin Ahmed Al Saadi, a resident of Nabr village in Liwa, said the “Eid Coffee” gatherings were organized on a rotating basis among neighborhoods, allowing all residents to take part while promoting cooperation and solidarity within the community.

He said the tradition helps strengthen social cohesion, encourages mutual respect among generations and introduces younger people to Oman’s authentic customs and cultural values.

Meanwhile, in the Wilayat of Seeb, large crowds attended the three-day “Al Ayoud Festival,” organized by the Office of the Wali of Seeb in cooperation with Muscat Municipality and several public and private sector organizations.

Held during both daytime and evening hours, the festival formed part of Eid Al Adha celebrations and aimed to promote the social and cultural spirit associated with one of the Islamic world’s most important religious occasions.

Visitors enjoyed a variety of activities, including traditional Omani singing performances, patriotic and emotional poetry recitals, children’s cultural competitions and horse-riding events with introductory equestrian training sessions.

The festival also featured a consumer exhibition showcasing products by local families, entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses, providing vendors an opportunity to display and sell food items and consumer goods.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Shuhi, Wali of Seeb and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said the festival was designed to create a joyful social atmosphere that reflected the spirit of Eid Al Adha.

He added that the strong turnout from citizens and residents had encouraged organizers to establish the event as an annual tradition during both Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha.

Across Oman, Eid Al Adha celebrations blended religious observances with cultural heritage and social gatherings, highlighting the enduring importance of hospitality, tradition and community solidarity in Omani society.
