Islamabad: The three-day annual Urs of Bari Imam concluded peacefully in the capital on Sunday after thousands of devotees travelled from across Pakistan to attend the religious gathering.
Held from August 15 to 17, the event brought together large crowds at the shrine, with authorities focusing on security, traffic control and basic facilities throughout the gathering.
The peaceful conclusion of the Urs was attributed by district authorities to coordinated efforts involving the Islamabad administration, police, shrine management and visitors.
Officials carried out regular inspections during the three-day event to monitor security arrangements, traffic movement and facilities for devotees.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon and other senior officials visited the venue several times to review arrangements and address operational issues as crowds gathered at the shrine.
Police officers were deployed at the shrine and surrounding areas, while administrative teams worked with shrine management to maintain order and facilitate the movement of visitors.
Authorities said arrangements were made for food distribution, parking and security services to meet the needs of visitors.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Uzair Khan and Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Ali Naeem Sheikh remained involved in supervising arrangements throughout the Urs.
According to the district administration, their continued presence helped coordinate crowd management, visitor services and security operations from the opening day through the closing ceremony.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon praised the district administration and police for their efforts in maintaining a peaceful environment during the gathering.
He also thanked shrine management, government officials, security personnel and devotees for their cooperation.
The successful conclusion of the Urs, officials said, demonstrated the importance of coordination between different departments and the public in managing large religious gatherings in the capital.
With the annual event now concluded, authorities said the coordinated approach to security, traffic and visitor facilities helped ensure that thousands of devotees could participate in the Urs without major disruption.
