Rawalpindi: Stringent security and traffic management measures remained in place for the second day of the Pakistan–South Africa Test match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, ensuring a peaceful and well-organized environment for players and spectators alike.
According to City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Syed Khalid Hamdani, more than 5,500 police officers and personnel were deployed to maintain security around the stadium, while 367 traffic officials efficiently managed the flow of vehicles in nearby areas.
Senior police officials remained on duty throughout the day, personally overseeing operations and briefing deployed personnel. Snipers were positioned on rooftops, and Safe City cameras provided continuous surveillance of the stadium and its surroundings to ensure real-time monitoring and rapid response to any potential threat.
The CPO said a dedicated control room was established for real-time coordination, while police mobiles, Elite Force, and Dolphin Squad teams conducted regular patrols in and around the venue.
To facilitate citizens, comprehensive traffic arrangements were implemented, allowing smooth vehicular movement despite the high turnout.
“The Rawalpindi Police remained fully alert and coordinated to maintain foolproof security and uninterrupted traffic flow during the Test match,” CPO Hamdani said.
