News Desk
Islamabad: Security forces killed 14 militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Basima district, while a soldier embraced martyrdom during an intense exchange of fire, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operation was conducted on June 8 in the Naal area of Basima district after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants allegedly linked to Fitna al-Hindustan.
The militants were reportedly planning attacks on a local police station and banks in the area.
Acting on the intelligence, security forces launched a swift operation to foil the alleged plans. During the operation, troops engaged the militants in a fierce gun battle.

The ISPR said 14 militants were killed and several others injured during the exchange of fire. Security forces also destroyed four vehicles being used by the militants, along with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) found at the site.
During the operation, Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbas was martyred while fighting militants, the statement said.
A sanitisation operation is continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining threats and ensure security, according to the military.
The ISPR reaffirmed that counterterrorism operations under the national security campaign “Azm-e-Istehkam” would continue to target militant groups and strengthen security across the country.
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in militant violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021. Security forces have conducted a series of operations against militant networks as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
