Pindi Ring Road Project Cost Soars to Rs50.4 Billion Amid Delays

News Desk

RAWALPINDI: The cost of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project has escalated to Rs50.4 billion, marking the third increase since construction began, yet the completion of toll plazas remains unfinished.

Officials have assured that the road will be open to traffic by the first week of November.

The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) recently approved the third revised PC-I at a meeting in Lahore, with officials stating that the project cost will not rise further.

The 38.3-kilometer road has seen the acquisition of 8,992 kanals of land at a cost of Rs6.7 billion, which is not included in the overall project budget.

The delays in the project have raised concerns among citizens and stakeholders regarding the efficiency of infrastructure development in the region.

The installation of a transportation system and electronic toll collection is expected to take an additional two weeks, according to officials.

Looking ahead, the Rawalpindi Development Authority is expected to monitor the project’s progress closely, with further updates anticipated as the November deadline approaches.
