PMD Forewarns Of Urban Flooding, Landslides

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has indicated chances of urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, and Lahore during the next 24 hours due to heavy rain.

The heavy rain may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Murree, Galyat, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and hilly areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the period. Heavy rain may cause flooding conditions in the local Nullahs of Dera Ghazi Khan and adjoining areas of Balochistan during the period.

As per the synoptic situation, monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are penetrating most parts of the country. A westerly wave is affecting the upper parts of the country.

During the next 24 hours, rain, wind, and thundershowers are predicted in Kashmir, Islamabad, the Pothohar region, including Punjab, northeast and south Balochistan, KP, and Sindh.

Heavy falls are also likely at isolated places in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, the Pothohar region, Islamabad, upper KP, and eastern Sindh during the forecast period.

During the last 24 hours, rain-wind-thundershowers occurred in upper/southeast Sindh, Punjab, north-eastern Balochistan, Kashmir, GB, and KP.

The highest maximum temperatures recorded were Dalbandin 45°C, Sibbi and Nokkundi 44°C.
