Pakistan Proposes Unified Crypto Body to Protect Investors

News Desk

ISLAMABAD: In response to a recent multibillion-dollar cybersecurity breach involving Binance, a unified industry representative body for Pakistan’s cryptocurrency sector has been proposed to enhance investor protection and improve coordination with international exchanges.

Hinza Asif, President of the Asia Web3 Alliance Japan (AWAJ), emphasized the urgent need for such an organization.

Asif highlighted that the burgeoning cryptocurrency market in Pakistan faces considerable challenges due to the lack of verified investor data and a structured mechanism to represent stakeholders, particularly during significant cybersecurity incidents.

She noted that Pakistan ranks third in the 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index by Chainalysis, with estimates of around 40 million crypto-linked accounts and a digital asset exposure ranging from $10 billion to $20 billion, although these figures remain unverified.

The implications of the Binance breach are profound, as such incidents can lead to substantial financial losses, unauthorized transactions, and disruptions in the market.

Asif’s call for a unified body aims to safeguard investors and ensure a more resilient framework for the cryptocurrency ecosystem in Pakistan, which is rapidly evolving.

Looking ahead, stakeholders are expected to convene to discuss the formation of this representative body, with the aim of establishing clearer guidelines and enhancing collaboration with global cryptocurrency platforms.

This initiative could pave the way for a more secure and organized digital asset environment in Pakistan.
