RAWALPINDI: One more dengue case was reported in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours, raising the tally of confirmed dengue cases to 13.

This was stated by District Coordinator Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC) Dr Sajjad Mehmood on Saturday.

He informed that surveillance was underway to detect the existence of dengue larvae while punishing actions were also taken against dengue SOPs violators.

Dr Sajjad said that the district health authority had sealed 130 premises, registered 114 FIRs challaned 423, issued notices to 2,299 violators and a fine of Rs 419,500 was imposed on violations of SOPs in various areas of the district from January 1, 2022, to date.

He added that prevailing weather was suitable for breeding dengue larvae. He urged the garrison residents to keep their water tanks clean and remove stagnant water in outdoor and household settings to stop mosquitoes from breeding after rain and submerged water.

Rawalpindi’s dengue fever condition was under control as only 13 cases were reported this year. However, Dr Mehmood said that the health department has devised a comprehensive policy to cope with any situation.
