KP Governor Asserts Local Rights to Provincial Resources
News Desk
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has declared that the people of the province hold the primary right to its resources, emphasizing his commitment to local ownership during a recent ceremony.
“No one should think that foreigners will come and loot this province. Till I am here, the people of the province will have the first right to its resources,” Kundi stated, reinforcing his stance amid rising concerns over external exploitation.
He noted that while outsiders may engage in joint ventures, the rights of local citizens must remain paramount.
This declaration comes in the wake of allegations from Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who suggested that the imposition of governor’s rule and emergency measures in KP were motivated by the government’s desire to control provincial resources.
Kundi’s remarks aim to quell fears of foreign exploitation and reassure citizens of his dedication to their welfare and the province’s integrity.
As Kundi navigates the complexities of governance under emergency rule, he has pledged to prioritize the protection of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s citizens, followed by the province itself and, ultimately, the nation.
Observers are keenly watching how these commitments will translate into policy and action in the coming weeks.
