Killing of Mother, Daughter in Noshki Draws Condemnation

Quetta: The killing of a woman and her daughter in Noshki has sparked widespread condemnation from political leaders and civil society representatives, who called for stronger action against militants responsible for attacks on civilians.
The victims, identified as government employee Bibi Hanifa and her daughter Hafsa, were killed when armed militants allegedly stormed their home in Kali Mengal, according to Adviser to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs Meena Majeed.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani and Ghazala Gola, Majeed said the killings had sent shockwaves across Balochistan and described the attack as an assault on peaceful citizens.
She said the family had already faced hardship during previous floods and that their home had been rebuilt with assistance from the Pakistan Army.
Majeed condemned the attackers and said the killing of women demonstrated the growing threat faced by ordinary civilians. She urged citizens to help authorities identify militants and called for a collective effort against terrorism.
Durrani termed the incident “barbaric and beyond comprehension,” while Gola said those responsible must be brought to justice.
The two lawmakers also highlighted the protection afforded to women under religious principles and international law, saying attacks targeting women were particularly reprehensible.
Majeed said the government and security forces were continuing operations against militants and vowed that efforts to undermine peace in Balochistan would not succeed.
The leaders also criticized what they described as silence from some human rights organizations over the killings and urged greater attention to violence against civilians in the province.
