Islamabad: Donald Trump has amplified Shehbaz Sharif’s diplomatic outreach by sharing his recent statement on social media, signaling growing attention to Pakistan’s proposed role in easing regional tensions.
The statement, originally posted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on a social networking platform, was reposted by President Trump on Truth Social without any added comment. Despite the absence of a caption, the move has drawn notice amid ongoing efforts to address the crisis in the Middle East.
In his message, the Pakistani premier reaffirmed that Pakistan is prepared to host “meaningful talks” aimed at de-escalating the situation.
He described facilitating dialogue as a matter of national pride and emphasized that negotiations are essential for ensuring peace and stability both in the region and globally.
Shehbaz Sharif also welcomed international efforts to initiate dialogue and reiterated Pakistan’s willingness to support a comprehensive settlement, provided there is mutual agreement among key stakeholders, including the United States and Iran.
The prime minister added that Pakistan stands ready to facilitate constructive engagement, framing the initiative as part of its broader commitment to promoting peace through diplomacy.
Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif has offered Pakistan as a venue for potential talks between the United States and Iran, as diplomatic efforts intensify to ease tensions in the Middle East.
In a post on X, the prime minister said Pakistan fully supports ongoing initiatives aimed at dialogue and is prepared to host negotiations if both sides agree. He described the opportunity to facilitate such discussions as an honor, emphasizing Islamabad’s willingness to help achieve a “meaningful and conclusive” settlement to the conflict.
The offer comes amid signs of renewed engagement between Washington and Tehran. Donald Trump recently stated that the United States and Iran had held “very good and productive” discussions focused on a “complete and total resolution” of hostilities in the region.
According to Trump, the talks began on Sunday and continued into Monday, involving US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner.
Pakistan’s offer to host negotiations highlights its attempt to play a constructive diplomatic role as international efforts to de-escalate the crisis gather momentum.
