Is WhatsApp About to Become More “Glass-Like”?
News Desk
Islamabad: WhatsApp is preparing to extend its Liquid Glass-inspired design to more parts of its iPhone app, signaling that Meta is continuing to reshape the platform’s visual experience.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS indicates that the company is working on bringing the redesigned interface to the drawing editor and video player.
The changes could make commonly used editing and playback controls look more consistent with Apple’s Liquid Glass design language.
More controls set for a redesign
WhatsApp’s drawing editor allows users to modify photos, videos and GIFs before sending them. The interface includes controls for adding text, drawing and inserting stickers.
Under the planned update, these controls will receive the Liquid Glass treatment.
The video player is also expected to get a visual update. WhatsApp is reportedly working on redesigning the video progress bar, which appears at the top of the screen and indicates how much of a video has been played.
The latest development comes after WhatsApp began rolling out its broader Liquid Glass redesign on iOS following more than six months of beta testing.
WhatsApp’s design overhaul continues
The company has been gradually applying the new visual style to additional features, including elements such as voice message controls, message reactions and context menus.
However, the rollout has not been uniform. Some iPhone users reportedly still do not have access to the initial Liquid Glass redesign, suggesting that WhatsApp is continuing to expand the update in stages.
The new drawing editor and video player changes are still under development and are not yet available to beta testers, according to WABetaInfo.
The expansion is part of Meta’s broader effort to introduce a more unified visual language across its apps and platforms, including iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
