Islamabad: WhatsApp has begun testing a scheduled messaging feature for selected iPhone users, allowing them to compose messages in advance and send them automatically at a specified date and time.

According to technology website WABetaInfo, the feature initially appeared in the Android beta version and is now being tested with a limited number of iOS beta users.

The new functionality allows users to schedule messages directly within a chat by long-pressing the send button and selecting their preferred date and time. Once a message has been scheduled, a confirmation notification appears in the relevant chat, visible only to the user who scheduled it.

According to the report, users can schedule messages for delivery anywhere from 10 minutes to two weeks in advance.

The feature supports not only text messages but also photos, videos and web links. However, users currently cannot schedule multiple photos or videos simultaneously.

Who Can Access the Feature?

For now, scheduled messaging is available only to selected beta testers. Users who have not been included in the testing programme cannot activate the feature independently.

Testing is reportedly underway on both iOS and Android devices, indicating that WhatsApp may expand access to more users in the future.

The feature could prove useful for people who want to send birthday greetings, work-related reminders or other important messages at a specific time without having to remember to send them manually.

However, WhatsApp has not yet officially announced the feature or confirmed a timeline for its wider rollout.
