RAWALPINDI: The district police have launched a high-level investigation following a major burglary at the residence of former Prime Minister and senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in Rawalpindi.

The incident has dispatched senior law enforcement officials to the scene to assess the security breach and secure the premises for detailed evidence gathering.

According to preliminary reports from local authorities, unidentified perpetrators managed to infiltrate the former prime minister’s home and looted valuable property before fleeing the scene undetected.

Upon receiving information regarding the break-in, a heavy contingent of Rawalpindi Police, along with forensic experts and crime scene investigators, cordoned off the area.

Police teams are currently processing the crime scene for latent fingerprints, collecting physical evidence, and analyzing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from surrounding street cameras to trace the movement of the suspects.

The security breach at the residence of a high-profile political figure—who also recently served as the Speaker of the National Assembly—has sparked widespread concern over the law and order situation in the region.

Political analysts and community leaders noted that if high-security residences of prominent state leaders remain vulnerable to burglaries, it highlights a critical flaw in urban policing and neighborhood surveillance systems across major cities in Punjab.

Rawalpindi Police confirmed that a formal case is being registered and a specialized task force has been constituted under the supervision of senior officers to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen items.

Law enforcement officials maintained that multiple raids are being conducted based on preliminary leads, assuring that those involved in the crime will be brought to justice swiftly.
