Facebook, Instagram Face Temporary Disruption
News Desk
Washington: Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger experienced widespread disruptions on Friday morning, temporarily preventing users from accessing some of the world’s most popular social media platforms.
According to outage tracking site Downdetector, reports of issues began spiking around 9:30 am ET, with users across regions reporting problems logging into Facebook, loading Instagram feeds, and sending messages through Messenger.
At the peak of the disruption, more than 120,000 users flagged issues affecting Meta’s services.
Many users encountered error messages such as “This page isn’t available right now,” while others reported that both desktop and mobile versions of the platforms were either timing out or failing to load entirely.

The disruption appeared to affect multiple services owned by Meta Platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger.
At around 10:40 am, reports of outages began to decline, and many users said access was gradually restored. However, the company has not confirmed the exact cause of the disruption.
Meta spokesperson Andy Stone acknowledged the issue on X, stating that the company was aware users were having trouble accessing its services and that engineers were actively working on a fix.
While service appeared to stabilize within roughly an hour, Meta has not yet provided a detailed explanation for what triggered the temporary outage affecting its global platforms.
