CM Maryam Removes Jhang DC for Misuse of Official Vehicle
News Desk
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the immediate removal of Jhang Deputy Commissioner Babar Sahib Din on Sunday, following the inappropriate use of an official vehicle from the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (Pera) during a recent jeep rally.
This decision underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining administrative discipline.
The three-day Jhang Thal Jeep Rally, which concluded last week, was organized in collaboration with private sponsors and had garnered positive feedback from provincial authorities, according to Jhang District Information Officer Riaz Marth.
However, the chief minister’s attention was drawn to the incident after a video surfaced on social media, showing the Pera vehicle participating in the rally.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that deploying resources from a regulatory authority for non-official purposes is a serious breach of discipline and a violation of established policies.
In a post on X, she stated, “The deployment of a regulatory authority’s resources for non-serious purposes, beyond its officially prescribed mandate, constitutes a serious breach of administrative discipline.”
As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this decision will impact the administrative framework in Punjab and whether further actions will be taken against other officials.
The provincial government is expected to review its policies regarding the use of official vehicles to prevent similar incidents in the future.
