KARACHI: The Turkish Petroleum Company is set to arrive in Karachi between November 17 and 20 to initiate offshore drilling activities, marking a significant revival of oil and gas exploration in Pakistan after a two-decade hiatus.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Parvez Malik confirmed the development, stating that the seismic survey vessel will play a crucial role in assessing potential oil and gas reserves in the region.

This initiative is expected to bolster Pakistan’s energy sector and attract foreign investment.

The resumption of offshore drilling is anticipated to have far-reaching implications for Pakistan’s economy, potentially enhancing energy security and reducing reliance on imported fuels.

It also signals a renewed interest in the country’s untapped natural resources, which could lead to job creation and economic growth.

As the Turkish vessel prepares for its arrival, stakeholders are keenly awaiting further announcements regarding the drilling schedule and potential partnerships. The government aims to leverage this opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties with Turkey while addressing the growing energy demands of the nation.
