Islamabad: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is planning to schedule a five-match home Test series against Pakistan and South Africa in its upcoming Future Tours Programme (FTP), according to British media reports.

Reports said the ECB has already held preliminary discussions with both cricket boards regarding the proposed long-format series.

Under the proposed FTP, England’s new cycle is expected to begin next year with a home Ashes series against Australia. Following that, extended Test series against Pakistan and South Africa are likely to be included in the schedule.

British media further reported that England is also considering shorter Test assignments against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, with one Test match each expected to be part of the future programme.

In addition to the red-ball fixtures, white-ball series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are also likely to be organised.

According to reports, the limited-overs series involving Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are expected to provide financial benefits for the ECB due to commercial and broadcasting opportunities.

The proposed schedule, however, is yet to receive official confirmation from the England and Wales Cricket Board. The proposed schedule, however, is yet to receive official confirmation from the England and Wales Cricket Board.
