PESHAWAR: Intermittent rain across various parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, accompanied by light snowfall in mountainous areas, has brought a noticeable chill to the weather and provided relief from the prevailing heat.

According to reports, rainfall has been recorded in Mansehra, Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi, Khyber, Haripur, Attock and Abbottabad. Rain has also lashed popular tourist destinations in Mansehra district, including Kaghan, Naran and Baisar.

Light snowfall on the mountains of Kaghan Valley and Babusar Top has further lowered temperatures, turning the weather cold in the surrounding areas. Similarly, rainfall in Landi Kotal tehsil of Khyber district and its adjoining areas has eased the intensity of the heat.

In Haripur, rain accompanied by cold winds has brought a significant change in weather conditions. Several areas of Azad Kashmir, including the Neelum and Leepa valleys, have also received rainfall, while light snowfall has been reported on higher mountain peaks.

Meanwhile, rain and snowfall in the mountainous areas of Nagar district in Gilgit-Baltistan have added to the chill, signalling a further shift towards colder weather in the region.

In view of the changing weather conditions, the district administration has advised residents to avoid mud houses and refrain from unnecessary travel as a precautionary measure.

According to the Meteorological Department, the intermittent spell of rain is expected to continue across affected areas until October 15.
