Islamabad: At least nine people sustained critical burn injuries after a fire broke out in a moving mini-van in Karachi during the early hours of Saturday.
According to rescue officials, the incident occurred in Khudadad Colony when the vehicle suddenly caught fire while in motion. The passengers were reportedly returning from a wedding ceremony when the blaze erupted, leaving them severely injured.
Emergency teams responded swiftly to the scene and shifted the injured to the burns ward of Civil Hospital Karachi, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Rescue sources confirmed that the victims include three girls and four women among the injured.
Police officials said preliminary findings indicate that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in the vehicle. However, a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
Authorities have urged vehicle owners to ensure proper maintenance and electrical safety to prevent such accidents.

A man who had arrived to discuss a marriage proposal was shot dead in Karachi, police and rescue officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to rescue sources, the incident took place at a house near Gulshan-e-Iqbal in Quaid-e-Azam Colony, where a man identified as Yasin was killed in a shooting. His body was shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Police officials stated that Yasin had visited the residence to discuss a marriage proposal when a dispute reportedly broke out inside the house. The situation escalated, leading to the fatal shooting.
Authorities said initial findings suggest the incident occurred during a domestic quarrel, though the exact circumstances remain unclear.
