Rawalpindi: Hotel and restaurant owners in Murree have been given 15 days to complete mandatory registration with the Punjab Tourism Department as authorities move to bring accommodation facilities under a formal regulatory framework.
The directive was issued during a meeting on Monday with hotel and restaurant operators, including those running establishments along Murree Expressway and in the Patratia area.
Punjab Tourism Department Director (Operations) Syed Khurram Hasan and Field Supervisor Zahid Iqbal briefed the owners on the registration requirements, licensing process and applicable fees.
Officials said registration with the Department of Tourism Services is compulsory and warned operators to complete the process within the given deadline.
The tourism department plans to register hotels and motels across Murree in phases, describing the move as part of efforts to improve tourism services and strengthen oversight of accommodation facilities in the hill resort.
Authorities said the phased registration would also help ensure that hotels and motels operate in accordance with the department’s requirements.
