TEHRAN: Iran has expressed its intention to join the Makkah Defense Pact, a military alliance formed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that the defense coalition represents a positive development in regional security.

Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of collaboration among neighboring countries to enhance stability and security in the region.

He noted that Iran’s inclusion in the Makkah Defense Pact would contribute to collective efforts against common threats, fostering a more secure environment for all member states.

The potential inclusion of Iran in the Makkah Defense Pact could significantly alter the geopolitical landscape in South Asia and the Middle East.

It may lead to strengthened military cooperation among the nations involved, potentially reducing tensions and fostering dialogue in a region often marked by conflict.

As discussions continue, it remains to be seen how the other member states will respond to Iran’s proposal.

Future meetings among the defense ministers of the involved countries are expected to address this development and outline the next steps for enhancing regional security.
