MUZAFFARGARH: A 90-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his 77-year-old wife, prompting legal action in the region.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, raising serious concerns about domestic violence among the elderly in Pakistan.

According to local police, the elderly woman reported the assault, which led to the immediate arrest of her husband.

Authorities have registered a case against him under relevant laws aimed at protecting vulnerable individuals.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of domestic abuse, particularly against older women, who often face significant societal challenges.

The case has drawn attention to the need for stronger protections for elderly citizens and the importance of raising awareness about domestic violence.

Advocates argue that more resources and support systems are necessary to address such issues effectively, especially in rural areas where traditional norms may perpetuate violence.

Following the arrest, police are expected to conduct further investigations into the couple’s living conditions and any previous incidents of abuse.

Local authorities are also planning community outreach programs to educate families about the rights of elderly individuals and the importance of reporting abuse.
