GB Police Repel Terrorist Assault on Inter-District Checkpost

GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan police successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist assault on a security checkpost situated along the volatile border between the Diamer and Ghizer districts, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The thwarted attack underscores ongoing security challenges in the mountainous region as law enforcement agencies maintain heightened vigilance.
According to the official police spokesperson, the incident occurred on Saturday when a heavily armed group of approximately nine terrorists ambushed the Sargah Nallah seasonal checkpost.
Operating under the jurisdiction of the Singal police station, the personnel stationed at the outpost immediately mounted a robust and effective retaliatory response, preventing the assailants from breaching the perimeter.
The mountainous terrain and high-altitude positioning initially offered tactical advantages to the attackers, enabling them to exploit the rugged topography and flee the scene under the cover of darkness.
Officials confirmed that all police personnel involved in the exchange of fire remained safe, sustaining no casualties due to their swift defensive maneuvers.
In the wake of the assault, the regional administration has initiated a comprehensive security review. Authorities are currently executing a strategic relocation plan to shift the police party to a safer, more defensible position while simultaneously bolstering the outpost with additional personnel, advanced logistical support, and modern tactical equipment to counter potential future threats.
