Fire at Islamabad’s H-9 Sunday Bazaar Extinguished

Islamabad: Firefighters have successfully extinguished a major fire that broke out at the H-9 Sunday Bazaar in Islamabad, destroying more than 80 stalls and causing significant property damage.

According to rescue officials, the blaze affected nine sections of the popular marketplace. Emergency teams managed to bring six of the affected sections under control before fully extinguishing the fire.

Due to the scale and intensity of the incident, additional firefighting vehicles were called in from Rawalpindi to assist in the operation.

Officials said the fire intensified after batteries stored in some of the shops exploded, making firefighting efforts more challenging.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by a short circuit. Authorities have launched a detailed inquiry to determine the exact cause of the incident and assess the extent of the damage.

No casualties have been reported so far, while officials continue to evaluate losses suffered by shopkeepers.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister (CM)  Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious human lives in a tragic traffic accident on the Murree Expressway that left at least four people dead and several others injured.

Following the chief minister’s directives, the Murree administration and rescue teams immediately rushed to the site and launched relief and rescue operations. CM Maryam Nawaz ordered authorities to ensure immediate and the best possible medical treatment for the injured and also sought a detailed report on the incident.
