CII Voices Concern Over Pakistan’s Law and Order Situation

News Desk

ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) convened on Thursday to address escalating concerns regarding the deteriorating law and order situation in Pakistan and the ongoing unrest in the Middle East.

The meeting, led by CII Chairman Dr Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi, highlighted pressing issues such as terrorism and the regulation of religious television networks.

During the session, members expressed alarm over the implications of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route, due to rising tensions between the US and Iran.

The council also subtly criticized the Houthis for their involvement in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, reflecting on the broader geopolitical ramifications of their actions.

However, the council opted not to explicitly name any specific Muslim nation in their official minutes.

This meeting underscores the CII’s role in navigating the intersection of domestic security and international relations, as the ongoing conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis continues to escalate, potentially impacting regional stability and trade routes critical to Pakistan’s economy.

Looking ahead, the CII plans to continue its discussions on these issues, with a focus on formulating recommendations that address both national security and the influence of international conflicts on Pakistan. Further meetings are anticipated to refine their stance and propose actionable solutions.
